Detailed overview: MiBoxer C4 battery charger
The MiBoxer C4 is a universal battery charger with 4 independent bays, built for anyone juggling several cell formats and chemistries. Made from fire retardant PC plastic, it automatically detects most inserted cells and shows all the useful data on a large LCD screen.
Its compatibility is very broad: Li-ion, IMR, INR and ICR cells (4.20V or 4.35V depending on chemistry), LiFePO4 (3.6V) and rechargeable NiMH/NiCd batteries (1.48V), from the small 10340 up to the 26650, including the common 18650, 21700, AA, AAA and C formats. One point worth flagging: the C4 cannot automatically tell Li-ion 4.35V apart from LiFePO4 3.6V, so you need to manually select the right mode with the MODE button before charging, otherwise it defaults to Li-ion 4.2V. A simple step, but one not to skip.
The LCD screen shows, for each bay, the voltage, charging current, internal resistance, charged capacity in mAh and estimated percentage. Current can be manually adjusted up to 1.5A per slot, with independent charging across all 4 bays without interference. The 4th bay stands out with a discharge function that measures a cell's real capacity, a useful way to check how much life an old battery has left.
Dual power input means the C4 runs equally well from mains (90-260V) or from a 12V car socket, handy on the road or when camping. The expected protections are present (reverse polarity, short circuit, automatic stop at full charge), and the case dissipates heat well.
Do not confuse it with the MiBoxer C4-12, a different model that charges faster (up to 3A per bay) but does not support LiFePO4. The C4 described here is the current revision (V3), the one that explicitly handles all 4 chemistries listed above. Sold under the MiBoxer brand, this charger is distributed on Amazon through the COSOOS storefront, which is why some listings show COSOOS as the brand: the unit itself, its screen and its packaging all carry the MiBoxer logo.

Video: MiBoxer Universal Battery Charger Review & Test - AA, AAA, C, Li-Ion, NiMH, LIFEPO4 - Published on 28/03/2023
Our tester's review: Christophe Delpuech
We tested the MiBoxer C4 for several weeks with a mix of vaping 18650 cells, NiMH AA batteries and a 3.6V LiFePO4 cell salvaged from an emergency light. First essential step: select LiFePO4 mode with the MODE button before charging, otherwise the charger defaults to Li-ion 4.2V. Once that habit is in place, the LCD screen is genuinely useful: voltage, current, internal resistance and real capacity show up bay by bay, and the discharge function on the 4th slot lets you check whether an old cell still holds up before tossing it. Dual mains/12V power is handy when travelling. One honest downside: several users, us included on a smaller scale, report a screen failure after a few weeks to a few months of heavy use, though customer support was responsive. For regular but not constant use, the C4 remains a solid, versatile companion.
Frequently asked questions: MiBoxer C4 battery charger
Yes, the current revision (V3) charges LiFePO4 3.6V cells, but you must select that mode manually with the MODE button: the charger does not detect it automatically and would otherwise charge the cell as Li-ion 4.2V, which is not right for this chemistry.
The C4-12 charges faster (up to 3A per bay), but unlike the C4 covered here, it does not support LiFePO4. The two models look alike but are not interchangeable on this point.
The unit and its packaging carry the MiBoxer logo, the actual manufacturer. COSOOS is the storefront name that distributes it on Amazon, a common case of reselling under a distributor's own listing.
With current set to 1.5A, a 3000mAh 18650 cell recharges in about 2 hours. Actual time depends on the cell's capacity and the current chosen per bay.
Yes, besides Li-ion and LiFePO4 cells, it accepts rechargeable NiMH and NiCd batteries in AA, AAA, AAAA and C formats, with automatic detection of this chemistry.
