Detailed overview: Noco Genius5 5A battery charger
The Noco Genius5 is the smart battery charger and maintainer that built the reputation of American brand Noco. Despite its compact size, it packs the functions of a much bigger charger: it charges, maintains, desulfates, and diagnoses 6V and 12V batteries, at a 5A current.
Its great strength is versatility. It works with nearly every battery technology, from conventional lead-acid batteries (flooded, AGM, Gel, EFB) to lithium LiFePO4 batteries, and handles capacities up to about 120 Ah. A built-in thermal sensor measures ambient temperature and adjusts the charge voltage to avoid overcharging in summer and undercharging in winter, which preserves battery life.
The Genius5 is fully automatic: plug it in, pick the mode, and it manages a multi-stage charge cycle on its own before switching to float maintenance. You can leave it connected permanently, for example to store a motorcycle, a mower, an ATV, a boat, or a classic car, without ever damaging the battery. Its Force mode lets you force-charge deeply discharged batteries, down to 1 volt, which most chargers refuse to touch, and its desulfation function restores health to sulfated batteries.
Supplied with clamps and a quick-connect eyelet harness, it installs in seconds. Its only real limit is logical: at 5A, it is well suited to maintenance and medium-sized batteries, but to quickly recharge a very large battery, the Genius10 is the better pick. Proudly designed in the USA, the Noco Genius5 remains a benchmark for home and powersport use.

The Genius5 stands out for its 6V and lithium compatibility, absent from the CTEK MXS 5.0, which stays limited to 12V lead-acid. It shares most of the Genius10's functions at half the current: ideal for maintenance and batteries up to 120 Ah. To recharge big batteries quickly (RV, truck), the Genius10 is the better fit.

Our tester's review: Christophe Delpuech
The Noco Genius5 is the small charger you end up reaching for on everything. We hooked it up to a motorcycle battery left in the garage all winter, and by spring the bike started on the first try, with nothing to monitor in between. What stands out is its versatility: 6V or 12V, lead-acid, AGM, Gel, or lithium, it figures out the right profile on its own, and you can leave it plugged in indefinitely without ever worrying about overcharge. Force mode is genuinely impressive for recovering a battery that has dropped very low, where a conventional charger refuses to even start charging. Desulfation gives tired batteries a real second life. The included clamps and eyelet connectors make setup quick. The one minor downside is that at 5A it is not built to urgently recharge a large RV battery, but for maintenance and batteries up to 120 Ah, it is an excellent companion, quiet and dependable.

Yes. The Genius5 works with lead-acid batteries (flooded, AGM, Gel, EFB) and lithium LiFePO4 batteries, thanks to a dedicated charge mode. It handles 6V and 12V batteries up to about 120 Ah.
Yes, it is one of its main uses. Once the battery is charged, it switches to float maintenance and monitors voltage without ever overcharging. Ideal for storing a motorcycle, a boat, or an RV.
Force mode lets you force-charge deeply discharged batteries, below the usual threshold and down to 1 volt, which most chargers detect as absent and refuse to charge.
The Genius10 delivers 10A versus 5A for the Genius5, and handles batteries up to 230 Ah. The Genius5 is enough for maintenance and batteries up to 120 Ah; the Genius10 recharges large batteries faster.
