We took the Charge 5 everywhere this summer, and that is exactly what it is built for. On a deck or by the pool, the sound really carries: 40W fill a backyard without distorting, with genuinely present bass for a speaker this size. The IP67 rating earned our trust more than once, between a surprise downpour at a campsite and splashes at the lake, it shrugs everything off. Battery life lives up to the claim: on a full day out we never had to recharge it, and 20 hours is realistic at a reasonable volume. The feature that lands it among multi-function devices is the USB-A port that rescues a dead phone, genuinely handy on a hike or at a tailgate. Two honest downsides: there is no aux input and no microphone for calls, and at full volume the battery drains noticeably faster. But for big sound, a rugged build, and real outdoor versatility, the Charge 5 remains a safe bet.
