The EcoFlow Stream Ultra is the flagship of the STREAM series, EcoFlow's plug-and-play home solar system for the US market. Announced in 2025 as, in EcoFlow's own words, the first plug-and-play home solar system designed for US apartments and condos as well as single-family homes, it bundles a 1920 Wh LiFePO4 battery, a built-in hybrid inverter and four MPPT solar inputs into a single box that connects to a standard 120V, 60Hz household outlet.
On the solar side, it accepts up to 2000 W of panels spread across its four MPPT trackers, which helps output even with mixed panel orientations or partial shading. Stored energy can then be sent back to the home circuit at up to 800 W, or delivered directly from its own AC outlets at up to 1200 W, useful for running essentials during a power outage. Capacity is expandable to 11.52 kWh by linking additional STREAM battery units.
The US launch of STREAM is tied directly to Utah's HB 340, the Solar Power Amendments signed in March 2025 that created a new legal category for small plug-in solar devices. Systems up to 1200 W that connect through a standard outlet and carry UL certification are exempt from permits, utility interconnection agreements, approval and fees, treated more like a large appliance than permanent electrical infrastructure. EcoFlow's own US product page currently states that plug-and-play installation of the Stream Ultra is permitted in Utah, and invites buyers elsewhere to check local rules, since several other states have since passed similar laws of their own.
Built for outdoor use with a NEMA 4 rated enclosure, the Stream Ultra is controlled through the EcoFlow app over Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, with tariff-aware scheduling and AI-assisted management. It carries a 10-year warranty. At the time of writing, it was listed as sold out on EcoFlow's own US store, a sign of how new and in-demand this product category still is in the US.

EcoFlow deserves credit for being first to market: the Stream Ultra is the first serious attempt at bringing Germany's balcony solar idea to the US, built around Utah's brand new HB 340 law instead of a legal gray area. Setup genuinely lives up to the plug-and-play promise: wire the panels to the four MPPT inputs, plug the unit into a standard 120V outlet, and the built-in inverter plus the EcoFlow app handle the rest, no electrician involved. In practice, our reservations are less about the hardware than the rollout. The unit showed as sold out at EcoFlow's own US store at the time of writing, and EcoFlow is explicit that self-install is currently sanctioned in Utah only, so shoppers elsewhere would need a licensed electrician and a standard utility interconnection agreement rather than a simple wall outlet. The 1920 Wh capacity also covers less of an evening's use than the larger Stream Ultra X sold in Europe. For a Utah household ready to work around stock, though, it is a genuinely fast, low-friction way into solar self-consumption.
