Detailed overview: Anker Zolo magnetic 10,000 mAh power bank with stand

The Anker Zolo magnetic 10,000 mAh belongs to the family of packs designed for recent iPhones, but it goes further than a simple magnetic brick. Its magnetic face self-aligns on the back of a MagSafe-compatible iPhone and starts wireless charging on contact, with no cable and no fiddling. The hold is firm enough to keep using the phone one-handed.

Its distinctive feature is the built-in kickstand. Folded, it disappears into the thickness of the casing; unfolded, it acts as a prop and tilts the phone to a comfortable viewing angle. In practice this turns the pack into a desk, airplane-tray or restaurant-table stand, while still charging the device. It is the kind of function you do not expect and end up using every day.

The third asset is the USB-C cable built into the casing. It saves carrying a separate cord and delivers up to 30W, well above wireless charging: enough to charge an iPhone at its maximum speed, feed a pair of earbuds, an e-reader, or even rescue a tablet. That same port recharges the pack itself.

At 10,000 mAh, around 37 Wh, the Zolo gives roughly two full phone charges, or a whole day of heavy use with regular top-ups. It is the balance point between capacity and bulk: it stays slim enough not to deform a jacket pocket, unlike 20,000 mAh models. It obviously remains far under the 100Wh cabin limit.

For an iPhone user wanting a single pack that charges wirelessly, doubles as a stand and refills fast over a cable, it is a coherent proposition. Android owners without built-in magnets will mainly benefit from the USB-C cable, the magnetic part then requiring a compatible case.

Comparison

At around $45, the Anker Zolo magnetic compares to the magnetic wireless packs sought for iPhone, via searches like "MagSafe power bank 10000 mAh" or "magnetic power bank with stand". Here is how it stands against two alternatives: the Anker MagGo Power Bank and the Ugreen MagFlow Air.

In short, the magnetic Zolo is the only one in the group to combine all three functions, magnet, adjustable kickstand and built-in 30W USB-C cable, at a noticeably lower price than the Anker MagGo. The Ugreen MagFlow Air undercuts it slightly but drops the kickstand. If you want a single accessory to charge, hold and rescue your iPhone, the Zolo remains the best value of the three.

We adopted this magnetic Zolo for train journeys, and it is a cleverer object than it looks. The magnetism is firm: placed on the back of an iPhone 16, it holds without sliding, even when handling the phone one-handed. The real surprise is the kickstand. Once folded out, it tilts the phone to a comfortable angle, turning a train tray or an airplane armrest into a small viewing station. We used it far more often than expected. On charging, wireless remains what it is, convenient but slow and a little warm over long sessions. That is where the built-in USB-C cable earns its place: plugged in, it climbs to 30W and charges an iPhone far faster, or rescues an iPad. Not having to carry an extra cord is, once again, the kind of detail that counts when traveling. Two caveats: 10,000 mAh is about two phone charges, so it is more a day companion than a weekend reserve, and wireless charging draws more than wired, so do not count on two full charges if you only use it magnetically. For urban and light nomadic use, it is a success.

Frequently asked questions: Anker Zolo magnetic 10,000 mAh power bank with stand

It is designed for MagSafe-compatible iPhones, i.e. the iPhone 12 and later. Magnetic attachment is immediate. On an older model or an Android, you need a case with magnets, otherwise you simply use the USB-C cable.

No, it is built into the pack's casing. It delivers up to 30W and serves both to charge a device and to recharge the Zolo itself, which saves carrying an extra cord.

Its 10,000 mAh, around 37 Wh, correspond to roughly two full charges of a recent iPhone over a cable. Wirelessly, expect a little less, as induction transfer is less efficient.

Once folded out, it tilts the phone to a comfortable viewing angle while charging it. That is especially handy on an airplane tray, on a train or on a desk to follow a video or a video call.
