Detailed overview: Zendure SolarFlow 4000 Mix AC+ 8kWh home battery

The Zendure SolarFlow 4000 Mix AC+ is an AC-coupled home battery built for households that already have solar panels and an inverter in place. Unlike a standard solar kit, it replaces nothing: a dedicated 5000-watt input takes the output straight from the existing photovoltaic inverter (Huawei, SMA, Fronius, Enphase, SolarEdge, Sungrow and most other brands on the market according to Zendure), which means storage can be added without touching the wiring or the inverter already installed.

Native capacity is 8000 watt-hours in lithium iron phosphate, expandable up to 50 kWh by adding modules, enough to cover anything from a small flat to a multi-person household. Bidirectional power reaches 4000 watts on both charge and discharge, rising to 5000 watts in PV bypass mode during consumption peaks. Round-trip efficiency is rated at 90 %, and the unit is rated for 10000 cycles down to 70 % remaining capacity, roughly 15 years of service on the basis of two full cycles a day, backed by a 10-year manufacturer warranty.

During a power cut, an off-grid output delivers 3680 watts continuously and up to 7200 watts at peak, with an automatic switchover in 10 milliseconds. If the outage happens during the day, the solar installation can keep powering the home and recharging the battery, turning a simple backup reserve into a genuine temporary off-grid setup. The IP65-rated metal enclosure operates from -4°F to +131°F (-20°C to +55°C), with a claimed noise level of around 25 dB at half load.

Control runs through the HEMS 2.0 manager and ZenKi mode, which coordinate charging, discharging and grid purchases based on solar output, household consumption and electricity prices. Installation can be plug-and-play on a dedicated socket or hard-wired to unlock up to 5000 watts of grid injection, with LAN, RS485, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity. The product launched in 2026 on pre-order, with shipping quoted at 20 to 30 days, a lead time worth checking before ordering. For a lighter setup, the SolarFlow 2400 AC remains available on a 2880 Wh base.

Comparison

At over $2315.88 the SolarFlow 4000 Mix AC+ competes with a small group of AC-coupled home batteries, in searches like "SolarFlow 4000 Mix vs Stream AC 5000" or "Zendure 4000 Mix vs Solarbank 3". Here is how it stacks up against three comparable alternatives: the SolarFlow 2400 AC, its own predecessor in Zendure's range; the EcoFlow Stream AC 5000, the other large AC battery on the market; and the Anker Solix Solarbank 3 E2700 Pro, a reference point with direct MPPT input rather than AC coupling.

In short, the SolarFlow 4000 Mix AC+ stands out with the highest starting capacity of the group and its dedicated 5 kW input that plugs directly into a third-party PV inverter, an advantage none of the other three models offer. The SolarFlow 2400 AC and the Solarbank 3 E2700 Pro remain cheaper upfront but with noticeably lower power, while EcoFlow's Stream AC 5000 comes close on capacity without matching its 4000 watts of bidirectional power or its inverter compatibility.

The SolarFlow 4000 Mix AC+ remains on pre-order more than four months after its launch, and the only customer feedback available so far offers a first glimpse: one buyer describes wiring it directly into a 20A breaker rather than a wall socket, a cleaner installation in his view, and says he has already raised output to 3000 watts without any issue. On paper, the 10-millisecond switchover to the off-grid output and the 7200 W peak leave headroom for appliances with a high startup current draw, such as a heat pump. Two reservations weigh on this early assessment, though: on a pre-production unit, the measured round-trip efficiency comes out at 87 % at full load and 78-82 % in real-world use, clearly below the announced 90 %, a measurement still to be confirmed on a production unit; and the HEMS 2.0 energy management system, which also controls this model, required an emergency software patch released in June 2026. The announced compatibility with major third-party inverter brands (Huawei, SMA, Fronius, Enphase, SolarEdge, Sungrow) has not yet been independently verified brand by brand. The real drawback at this stage remains the lack of hindsight: the launch happened on a very small scale, reviews can still be counted on one hand, and the pre-order shipping window (20 to 30 days) is worth watching before ordering.

Frequently asked questions: Zendure SolarFlow 4000 Mix AC+ 8kWh home battery

Yes, that is exactly the intended use: a dedicated 5000-watt input takes the output from your existing photovoltaic inverter (Huawei, SMA, Fronius, Enphase, SolarEdge, Sungrow and most other brands on the market according to Zendure), without replacing the inverter or rewiring anything.

The off-grid output delivers 3680 watts continuously and up to 7200 watts at peak for 200 milliseconds, enough to start a fridge, a pump or an oven. Switchover takes about 10 milliseconds once the function is enabled.

The metal enclosure is IP65 rated and operates from -4°F to +131°F (-20°C to +55°C), which allows outdoor or semi-outdoor placement, under a carport or in a garden shed. Shielding it from prolonged direct exposure is still recommended.

The 4000 Mix AC+ nearly doubles the power output (4000 W versus 2400 W), with a starting capacity of 8000 Wh against 2880 Wh and expansion up to 50 kWh. It also adds a dedicated 5000 W input for a third-party PV inverter, which the 2400 AC lacks.

At launch, Zendure quotes shipping within 20 to 30 days since the product is sold on pre-order. That window shifts with stock availability, so it is worth checking the product page again before ordering.

Yes, and above 800 W of inverter output, this installation moves out of the plug-and-play solar kit format: it follows the standard grid-connection procedure with Enedis, with a systematic Consuel certificate and the involvement of a qualified installer.
