We fitted the RBM500 to a setup with a 200Ah lithium leisure battery, keen to finally know what's really going on inside it, beyond a basic voltmeter reading. The shunt wires in once, on the negative terminal, and the LCD display, connected via a 20 ft shielded cable, can be mounted well away from the battery, on a dashboard for instance. The result: live readout of voltage, current and, most usefully, remaining charge percentage, far more meaningful than raw voltage alone. Over time, the claimed 1% accuracy held up well against a reference multimeter. The one thing to know before buying: this monitor has no Bluetooth at all, despite what the price might suggest. For smartphone monitoring, you need to add Renogy's BT-2 module, sold separately. For anyone happy with the physical screen, often plenty for RV use, the RBM500 does the job well at a fair price.
