Detailed overview: Panasonic Eneloop AA rechargeable batteries
Panasonic Eneloop AA batteries have become an essential benchmark among rechargeable cells, and that reputation is well earned. Built to last, they handle up to 2100 charge and discharge cycles, meaning years of heavy use while cutting way down on the waste that comes with disposable batteries.
Their minimum capacity of 2000 mAh and 1.2V output suit the vast majority of everyday devices: game controllers, remotes, wireless mice and keyboards, toys, flashlights, camera flashes, clocks and shutter remotes. They ship pre-charged at the factory using solar power, so they are usable straight out of the pack.
The feature that built the Eneloop reputation is very low self discharge. Where ordinary rechargeables drain flat in a few weeks in a drawer, Eneloop hold onto up to 70% of their capacity after 10 years of storage. That makes them the go-to pick for forward-thinking users and preppers who like a stock always ready to grab.
Sold here in a pack of 8, they pay for themselves quickly against disposable alkaline batteries, especially with a suitable charger. Compared with the higher-capacity Eneloop Pro versions, which trade some longevity for extra capacity, standard Eneloop favor durability and stability over the years. Made in Japan and known for consistent quality, they are a durable, budget-friendly investment for AA-powered devices around the house.

Our tester's review: Pierre Freysinger
It is hard to find anything more dependable than Eneloop, and running them daily makes it obvious why they get so much praise. We use ours in game controllers, remotes, a wireless mouse and a camera flash, and they take it all without a hiccup. Their real strength is low self discharge: pulled out of a drawer after months of neglect, they are still nearly full and ready to use, where a bargain rechargeable would already be flat. On the camera flash they keep recycling at a steady pace without slowing down, a good sign of consistency cell to cell. Sold in packs of 8, they pay for themselves quickly against disposables, especially with a decent charger. The capacity sits a bit below the Pro versions, but in exchange they handle far more cycles and age more gracefully over the years. The one small catch, true of any NiMH cell, is that they put out 1.2V instead of the 1.5V of an alkaline, which occasionally bothers a very voltage-sensitive device. Outside of that, this is a purchase you will not regret.

Up to 2100 times according to Panasonic, with a suitable charger. That is one of the best figures on the market, which makes these batteries very cost effective against disposables over the long run.
Yes, they ship pre-charged using solar power and are ready to use as soon as you open the pack. Thanks to their low self discharge, they hold that charge for a very long time in storage.
Standard Eneloop deliver 2000 mAh minimum and up to 2100 cycles with excellent longevity. Eneloop Pro reach a higher capacity but handle fewer cycles. The standard cells suit everyday use and long-term storage best.
In almost every AA powered device. They deliver 1.2V versus 1.5V for an alkaline, which is fine for the vast majority of uses; only a handful of devices very sensitive to voltage may be reluctant.
