Detailed overview: Fossibot 200W bifacial foldable solar panel

The Fossibot SP200 Pro is a 200W portable solar panel designed to recharge a power station far from any wall outlet. It succeeds the SP200 with a genuine technical step forward: bifacial power generation. Both sides capture sunlight, the front directly, the rear through light reflected off bright surfaces such as snow, sand or concrete, for a claimed gain of 10 to 15% extra power in those conditions.

The monocrystalline solar cells reach a conversion efficiency of up to 25%, against 23.4% on the SP200, and keep performing well in high heat. Electrically, the panel delivers a maximum power voltage (Vmp) of 18.8V, a maximum current (Imp) of 10.7A, an open-circuit voltage (Voc) of 22.6V and a short-circuit current (Isc) of 10.9A. Built-in bypass diodes limit overheating when the shadow of a leaf or an obstacle covers part of the panel.

Its build is designed to last: a reinforced aluminum frame, thick plastic corner protectors, IP67 certification against dust and water, and an operating range of 14 °F to 158 °F (-10 °C to 70 °C). Unfolded, it measures 81.9 x 23.7 in (208 x 60 cm) at 0.84 in (21.4 mm) thick; folded into four sections it shrinks to 23.7 x 20.5 in (60 x 52 cm), 3.4 in (8.7 cm) thick, with a carry handle and a carry bag. At 14.3 lb (6.5 kg) on the scale, stand included, it is about 20% lighter than the SP200 (17.7 lb or 8 kg). Its built-in stand holds the panel at a fixed 35° angle, with no adjustment.

The standard MC4 connector is paired with a 4.9 ft (1.5 m) MC4-to-XT60 solar charging cable, supplied with the user manual, which plugs straight into the XT60 input of a Fossibot station. The manufacturer gives charging estimates: roughly 6.8 hours for an F1800 (1024Wh) with a single panel, and roughly 6.4 hours for an F3600 Pro (3840Wh) with four panels. As with any panel, real output depends on sunlight, orientation and the ground beneath it: Fossibot itself says it sits between 70 and 85% of peak power in typical weather. Backed by a 2-year warranty, it suits anyone looking to gain solar autonomy for an RV, camping, fishing or a power outage.

Comparison

In the $250 to $540 range, the Fossibot SP200 Pro competes with several highly searched 200W foldable panels, via queries like "Fossibot SP200 Pro vs Anker Solix PS200" or "SP200 Pro vs Jackery SolarSaga 200W". Here is how it stacks up against three references in the segment: the light, bifacial Anker Solix PS200, the equally bifacial Jackery SolarSaga 200W, and the Bluetti MP200, a classic, non-bifacial and heavier panel.

In short, the Fossibot SP200 Pro is the cheapest of the four while offering bifacial generation, up to 25% efficiency and just 14.3 lb (6.5 kg), well below the 17.9 lb (8.14 kg) of the Bluetti MP200. The Anker Solix PS200 beats it on weight (10.6 lb or 4.8 kg), waterproofing (IP68) and warranty (5 years), and the Jackery SolarSaga 200W on weight, waterproofing and warranty, but at a noticeably higher price. For a bifacial 200W panel at the best price, the SP200 Pro remains the best-balanced choice in the segment.

See our tester's profile

The SP200 Pro wins you over first with its format: folded into four sections it fits in a 23.7 x 20.5 in (60 x 52 cm) square with its carry handle, and at 14.3 lb (6.5 kg) it is easy to move around, about 3.4 lb (1.5 kg) less than the old SP200. Unfolded, the rear side does its job mostly over a bright surface (concrete, gravel, snow): the 10 to 15% quoted by Fossibot is a ceiling, not an average, and grass or dark soil add almost nothing. Fossibot itself states that real output sits between 70 and 85% of peak power, so roughly 140 to 170W, which is normal for a panel of this class. Two honest gripes: the angle is fixed at 35° with no adjustment, so you have to turn the whole panel toward the sun, and the 2-year warranty is shorter than the 5 years offered by some rivals. The supplied MC4-to-XT60 cable is 4.9 ft (1.5 m) long, so bring an extension if the station stays under cover. For the money, a light, sturdy bifacial 200W panel that sits well next to a Fossibot station.

Frequently asked questions: Fossibot 200W bifacial foldable solar panel

Both sides capture light: the front directly, the rear through reflection off bright surfaces (snow, sand, concrete). Fossibot claims 10 to 15% more power in those conditions, with almost no benefit on grass or dark ground.

It uses a standard MC4 connector, with an MC4-to-XT60 cable supplied for the solar input of a Fossibot station (the brand cites the F1800, F2400, F3600 Pro and F7200). With another brand, check that the input accepts an open-circuit voltage of 22.6V.

Yes, its IP67 rating protects it from dust and water, and it operates from 14 °F to 158 °F (-10 °C to 70 °C) thanks to its reinforced aluminum frame. It is not designed for prolonged submersion, though.

Fossibot states that real output sits between 70 and 85% of the 200W peak power in typical weather, so roughly 140 to 170W. Sunlight, heat, orientation and shade all move that figure.

The Pro is bifacial, reaches up to 25% efficiency against 23.4% and weighs 14.3 lb (6.5 kg) against 17.7 lb (8.04 kg). In return, it drops the SP200's four adjustable tilt angles for a fixed 35° angle.

It weighs 14.3 lb (6.5 kg), stand included. Folded into four sections (23.7 x 20.5 x 3.4 in, or 60 x 52 x 8.7 cm), it carries with its handle and the supplied carry bag, in an RV, while hiking or on a job site.
